Get to Know Our Animals

At Buffalo Creek Vacations, it's not just about luxury cabins and vacation getaways. We're also a working ranch! On our property, we care for a herd of bison, llamas, goats, mini horses, rabbits, and a turkey. One of the things our customers love is interacting with our animals. Get to know our animals by looking at the gallery below and read about some of the interactive experiences we offer. Contact Buffalo Creek Vacations today. Year-round booking is available!

Bison Feeding

Bison feeding is free to all our customers. We typically feed Monday through Saturday at 9:30 AM at the Bison Viewing Platform. Please check the weekly schedule on the fridge at your property. There is no parking at this venue, so if your cabin or caboose is not within walking distance, you can park your vehicle at the BC Depot and walk down from there. Come meet the ranchers and ask questions. You can see these magnificent creatures up close!

Donkey Excursions

Come visit and play with our mini donkeys! You get to go inside our mini donkey pasture with Dennis, the donkey whisperer. Here, you can feed, brush, pet, and take pictures with these adorable guys. Closed-toe shoes are required, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $10 per person. You can schedule your excursion and purchase tickets ahead of time by calling (828) 747-1882 or by talking to the BC Depot.

Feed the Barn Animals

Come over to the BC Barnyard for a hands-on animal experience during your stay. We have lots of pygmy goats that love to be fed. Use our gumball machine to get a handful of feed for $.25, or you can purchase a souvenir cup of animal feed for $3 at the BC Depot. Refills are just $2 during your stay. You can also see the mini horses, turkey, rabbits, and birds here. If your cabin or caboose is not within walking distance, please park your vehicle at the BC Depot and walk down to the green barn.

Llama Watching

Come meet our llamas! They are inquisitive creatures, and if you hum quietly, they may hum back or come give you kisses. To see them, walk past the green barn. Jeep Trail goes to the right and Bison Run Road continues to the left to the cabins. There is a dirt path between these roads that takes you to the llamas. They typically get fed after the bison and barnyard animals at 10:30 AM Monday through Saturday. You can enter the gate, but be sure to close it after. You can follow the trail farther to get to the playground.

Mini Horse Rides

Calling all cowboys and cowgirls! We have the perfect activity for your little ones. Kids can ride mini horses, led by one of our crew. Take lots of pictures and feed the horse a treat! The weight limit is 65 pounds, and closed-toe shoes are required. Sanitized helmets are provided, and we ask that an adult walk alongside the child. Cost is $10 per child. You can schedule your excursion and purchase your tickets ahead of time by talking to us at the BC Depot. Most rides happen at 10:45 AM after the animals are fed.
