Ranch Hands
Start your day with an authentic ranch experience as a Ranch Hand at Buffalo Creek Vacations. Join our ranchers behind the scenes as you help prepare feed for the bison before assisting with feeding all of our friendly barnyard animals, including alpacas, llamas, goats, mini horses, and rabbits. It's a fun, hands-on activity that lets you experience life on a working ranch while getting up close with the animals that call our property home. Sign up in advance, as availability is limited.
Bison Feeder
Sign up for a one-of-a-kind ranch experience by helping our ranchers feed the bison. Ride along on the tractor as you help deliver oats to the herd and enjoy an up-close look at these incredible animals. Participants must be 16 years of age or older and able to lift 5- gallon buckets. Contact us to reserve your spot, as availability may be limited.
Our gift shop, BC Depot, is a great place to stop during your stay! You can purchase your Smoky Mountain Roasters coffee, clothing, souvenirs, items you forgot, treats for your pups from the Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery, bison meat, and animal feed for the goats and mini horses! We also have tickets for mini horse rides, the Agapeland Station, and day passes for those not staying on the property.
During the winter months, this is where you can score your Kids Ski Free tickets for the Cataloochee Ski area. We have lots of information on things to do in the area, so don’t forget to grab the Western North Carolina Adventure guide!

Located on the second floor of the BC Depot, you can visit Agapeland Station. We've partnered with Smoky Mountain Model Railroaders to create a truly memorable visit.
Agapeland features a 30-foot by 50-foot model train layout, which depicts how the railroad serviced America. The setup is inspired by Western North Carolina's lush mountains, streams, and farmlands. There is even a mini version of Buffalo Creek Vacations for you to explore!
We operate a diverse collection of trains. This includes the Lionel-type, three-rail O-gauge trains from before World War 2 and modern locomotives and equipment.
Kids can do a scavenger hunt to find things in the layout. There is a free prize for kids who complete the challenge! Ticket Prices:

You will be with Dennis, the donkey whisperer. He will take you inside the donkey enclosure, where you will be able to pet, feed, and brush our mini donkeys. Closed-toe shoes are required. Only one family per time slot is permitted.

Paintball is great family fun! You can enjoy paintball with Splat Forest Paintball.
The Pigeon River of Western North Carolina and East Tennessee rises above Canton, NC and is impounded by Walters Dam. There, it enters Tennessee and flows into the French Broad River, just past Newport, TN. This river runs right in front of the entrance to our property. There is a pull-off just .2 miles down the road after turning left out of the main property. You can park here and walk down to the river. In addition to fishing, kids love to skip rocks or just cool off in the mountain stream.
Another great place to fish is Ferguson’s Trout Pond, located just 8 miles from Buffalo Creek Vacations. This pond is behind Ferguson’s General Store, and since it is on private property, no fishing license is required. They have cane poles for your use as well as bait available. They charge about $5 for every pound you catch.
